It’s the time of year that we are gearing up for our next Confirmation class and we are very excited about our 7th graders participating in confirmation!
Confirmation is the time when a personal decision is made to confirm the vows of our baptism. At First United Methodist Church Plano, this happens as a group of students in the 7th grade joined together for a school year. They will explore who Christ is, what it means to know Christ through a life-long relationship, discuss United Methodist traditions and origin. This group meets together for most of the school year. Confirmation Sunday is their first public affirmation of faith on their own. Our first prayer is that each student involved will commit to a real and personal faith. Our second prayer is that they will begin to cherish the rich heritage we have as United Methodists. Confirmation is not simply a “rite of passage”, nor a class to complete. It is a step in a life-long journey of pursuing the heights, depths and widths of God’s love by making a vow to live in relationship with God for the rest of their life!
The Confirmation experience includes participation in very important events such as: a lock-in at FUMC Plano, several mini-retreats, class t-shirts, and a retreat at to end the year. In order to provide all of the activities, and as a part of your commitment to the class, there is a participation fee of $185. Registrations and payments are due by Sunday, Aug. 11, at the Parent Meeting at 4 p.m. at FUMC Plano in the Youth Lounge.
