Serving your community!

opportunities for you to connect God and Grace to self and community

The Mission Service Group of FUMC Plano was created for members who have not had the opportunity to serve hands on because they are either in school or work during the week. The Mission Service Group schedules work on Saturdays giving this group the opportunity to serve their church and community.

There are many ways to serve within the Mission Service Group. Along with the hands-on work needed from skilled and unskilled volunteers, we also need those gifted in project management, design, budget planning, resource allocation, material distribution, and providing food and drinks for the workers. There is a job for all ages and talents! To find a place to connect with the Mission Service Group, contact Stacy Spears.

One of our greatest needs is to provide meals to members who are alone or are not able to cook meals for themselves. You do not have to cook! Support your local restaurants and they can deliver for you! If you are interested in providing a meal, either simple precooked meals, ready-to-bake meals or order take-out meals, please contact Anna Clinton directly at admfruit@verizon.net to get in the rotation. Another way to connect God and grace to self and community!

Yardbirds and Prayer Planters

This group of people is dedicated to maintaining the church grounds and facility. They gather for work, fellowship and refreshments each Friday morning. The Yardbirds take care of our grass and provide support for other ministries as needed. The Prayer Planters tend the flower beds to help make the church grounds look more colorful and beautiful. The young adults lead programming, giving them authentic, hands-on experiences leading high-quality programs for children and youth and equally important, learning from the children and youth. FUMC Plano supports Project Transformation by providing intern meals during the summer.  Leadership Opportunity - A church liason for Project Transformation is needed!  Summer volunteer opportunities are available at sites throughout the DFW metroplex. People Who Love People

People Who Love People is a group of faith-based interdenominational volunteers who share meals with Plano homeless and food insecure at the Day Labor Center every Monday and Thursday morning. They also distribute nonperishable food items that can help throughout the week. God’s love is shown, food is provided and friendships are made! This can only happen through generous donations and volunteers!

Donate : New men’s socks (prefer black), bottled water, individually packaged healthy/high protein snacks such as: Nutrigrain cereal bars, chewy granola bars, nuts, trail mix, beef sticks & cheese, peanut butter crackers. 160-200 of each item are needed each week to meet the needs of this ministry. You can leave your donations in the church office or order online: Amazon wish list; Walmart wish list.

Volunteer: Join us any Monday or Thursday morning in the parking lot just south of the Plano Day Labor Center, across the street from the Parker Road Dart Station. We begin setting up at 7:30 a.m., begin serving at 7:45, and are cleaned up and ready to depart by 8:30. If you would like to bring your donation with you when you serve, sign up here.
