Question: When does 2% make 98% of the difference?
Answer: When 300 families at FUMC Plano take the 2% challenge.

In the United States, the average person gives about 2% of their income to charity. In scripture, God calls us to the tithe—10% as an act of worship. For many, 2% is an important starting place.

This year, we’re inviting our church family to take one simple, faithful step: increase your current giving by just 2%.

Why 2%?

When Cammy and I were a young couple, we began by giving 2% and worked our way up to 10% over time. Along the way, we discovered something life-changing: when we put God first, God truly provided for our every need. What we received was not only provision, but joy, contentment, and a deeper trust in God.

That same journey is open to each of us. And this year, your church needs 300 families to accept the 2% challenge so that, together, we can finish 2025 strong and step confidently into 2026.

The Impact of Your 2%

Our costs have risen 2% this year and will rise another 2% next year. By increasing your giving 2%, you will make 98% of the difference needed to sustain and grow our ministries:

  • Children and youth programs that grow disciples

  • Mission projects that help our community

  • Transformative worship that welcomes hundreds each week

Your Next Step

Prayerfully consider that just 2 cents more on the dollar of your regular giving will make an outsized difference for the ministry of FUMC Plano in the last three months of 2025 and beyond. Bring your 2026 Estimate of Giving Card on Commitment Sunday, October 19, when we will consecrate our commitments together as a church family.

Together, our faithful giving will open doors to a stronger 2026, with strength, gratitude, and trust that God is more than gracious to meet our every need.
