WELCOME TO FUMC PLANO’S CHILDREN’S MINISTRY!
At First United Methodist Church Plano we are serious about providing a loving learning environment where our children have the opportunity to “SPARK” and “IGNITE” their spiritual gifts and learn to live a God-led life. We offer many programs throughout the year to help children grow in their faith.
CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL
It is our goal for children to know and experience God through the loving message of Jesus and the stories from the Bible. We want to build a strong foundation that will be everlasting!
Pre-school Sunday School
Sunday school is provided for children age two, three, four and pre-school five in the children’s hallway off of the Gathering Area during both hours of worship and the 10 a.m. Sunday school hour.
Kindergarten through Fifth Grade Sunday School, 10 a.m.
During this hour we offer programming that not only teaches children the Bible stories, it gets them excited about their faith! K-2nd graders meet in Room 230 and are learning how to live their faith 24/7 with an exciting, energetic program. Parents will pick up from individual classrooms. 3rd and 4th graders meet in Room 240 and are learning how to use their new Bibles. Our 5th graders are learning how to “GRAPPLE” with their faith and how to apply that to every area of their lives. They meet in Room 244.
Sunday School is available at 11 a.m. for children Kindergarten through 1st Grade in the Spark Hallway.
Second through Fifth Grade in Worship
We feel that it is very important for our children to have the opportunity to experience our worship service as well as Sunday school. We encourage all children and their parents to get involved in a 10 a.m. Sunday school class and attend worship as a family at 9 or 11 a.m.
NURSERY
Quality nursery care is available Sundays during worship and Sunday school. Child care is also offered for other church events when scheduled through the nursery coordinator. For more information contact Preschool Director Barbara Edhlund, bedhlund@fumcplano.org.

Background checks on all church staff and volunteers.
Nursery care is provided for children 2 years and younger during all worship services. Sunday school is offered for 3-5 years not yet in Kindergarten on Sunday morning.
Room B139 is equipped with sound from the Sanctuary for parents with small children.
To make your child care reservations for events and classes at the church, contact Preschool Director Barbara Edhlund, bedhlund@fumcplano.org or 972-423-4506 24 hours in advance. Child care is scheduled Sunday morning and does not need reservations.
Leave his mark
Ignite Children’s Ministry's very own children’s mission program Leave HIS Mark is designed to give children and their families an opportunity to share the love of Jesus OUTSIDE the church. They’ll do this by giving back to our community through hands-on mission work, ultimately creating a life-long desire to serve others. Please see our Facebook page for up-to-date missions!
CLUB 45 AND KIDS’ POWER HOUR - Sunday evenings
SUNDAY EVENING PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN KINDERGARTEN - 5TH GRADE. CHILDCARE IS PROVIDED FOR CHILDREN WHO HAVE NOT YET ENTERED KINDERGARTEN.
KID’S POWER HOUR (KPH) is held on many Sunday evenings in the Gym for children K-3rd grade. We have a fun social time of play inside and outside. We enjoy a devotional time together to help our children grow in their faith!
CLUB 45 is a special Bible study and fun time designed especially for our 4th and 5th graders. We meet many Sunday nights, 6-7pm.
These programs do not overlap with other church-wide events, so please check the calendar or contact Mardi Bowen with questions!

My Friends' Place After School Care
My Friends’ Place is after school programming for children in Kindergarten-Seventh Grade. Transportation is provided each afternoon from local elementary and middle schools (call to see if we pick up from your school).
