Following up on the unprecedented number of deaths our church family has experienced recently, I want you to know of the support structures we have in place and are putting in place for those who need them:

  • Wellspring Counseling is a ministry of our church that provides professional counseling at a pro-rated basis for all who need it. Their work is excellent and available to you.

  • We host Journey of Hope monthly at our church where families who have unexpectedly lost a loved one can share a meal and then break out into smaller, age-appropriate groups to discuss their grief, facilitated by a licensed professional counselor.

  • We are hiring professional counselors from Wellspring to work with our youth and adults in separate group formats to begin processing the pain, the anger, the helplessness, the numbness in the few next weeks.

  • I will be preaching a Lenten series beginning March 13 on "Navigating Change and Grief." Our Lay Leader, Tim Hopson will assist in that series using material coming out of creative conversations we are having through the Texas Methodist Foundation.

  • And as always, your pastors, staff and Congregational Care Team are available to you for individual conversations. Do call!

We know from mental health experts that there will continue to be a tsunami of mental health crises for people in the months and years ahead well after the pandemic is over. Jesus Christ and his church can help. None of us can do this alone. Reach out and we will respond; together we will get a handle on it.

With hugs and prayers,
