This Sunday we are having a Field Day to celebrate the end of the school year! Dinner will be served inside and games and activities are planned on the lawn followed by our quarterly Town Hall meeting in the Sanctuary to keep everyone apprised of progress in the major areas of our ministry.

I love being where our people are, especially when there is food, fun and youth involved. But after consulting with staff, SPRC Chair and Lay Leader, I made the choice to be elsewhere at the same time.

I will be at Flower Mound UMC Sunday evening. They invited me to speak on the occasion of their 25th anniversary. I was their second pastor, succeeding the founding pastor who died last year. During my four and a half years there we grew in grace and mission, doubled the size of the church footprint, reduced debt, and were angling to build the permanent sanctuary when I was appointed mid-year to FUMC Denton. To return this Sunday along with other pastors who served after me is a reunion of connection - connection with a church family and connection with a Conference family of which Cammy and I are members.

So thank you for understanding my absence this Sunday … and save me a water balloon, a powder bomb and an extra dessert. I'll see you on the 22nd when we will celebrate and honor our graduating seniors!

Blessings and much laughter,
