It was one of the simplest and most profound things I had ever heard.

The church I was serving went on a mission trip south of the border. We built homes for families living in bits of scrap lumber and pallets cobbled together for shelter. We accompanied a group from a much larger church in Indiana. They brought about 100 people complete with all of the equipment necessary to set up our construction camp while our church brought about 25 people and supplies. In making the presentation to pitch the idea to our church during worship, the representative explained the spiritual stance we needed to take if we were to join them on this mission trip. "It's SO not about you," she said. Twenty years later, I can’t come up with a better statement for the proper spiritual stance for a follower of Jesus—at ALL times.

This Sunday, after our one worship service at 10 a.m., we will NOT be heading south of the border to build houses. However we will, in various sized groups, be heading out in spirit and body to be in Mission Together. Be sure to sign up for your mission project here. It promises to be a lot of fun as we celebrate 175 years of service by going out to serve others in the name of Jesus and remembering gladly, "it's SO not about us."

In that same vein, remember to bring your 2023 Estimate of Giving card or fill one out online here. Every member counts as we join to underwrite the work God has for us to do next year.

See you at 10 this Sunday for worship and celebration!
