It happened a year ago.

It happened again Sunday.

A man came into our parking lot and placed fliers under the windshield wipers of cars belonging to members and guests alike. The fliers were filled with hate, specifically toward our Jewish sisters and brothers. The words were vile, mean-spirited and clothed in the guise of scriptural authority.

Let us be clear: THERE IS NO SCRIPTURAL AUTHORITY FOR HATE. None.

We have reported this again to the Plano police department and we have camera footage of the man and his car as we build a file against him. However, our greatest precaution is to peacefully but assertively "resist evil, injustice and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves." That is our baptismal vow — together. This is who we are as United Methodist Christians, with one another and toward all those we meet. May we do so unapologetically and always with love and kindness.  Amen.
