Our church recently entered into contract with a commercial architect to be our advocate in the development of the property we voted to sell this year. The firm will provide civil engineers who will work with the Buyer’s engineers for new parking, drainage, entrances, setbacks, and such. They will also work with engineers and approval departments with the City of Plano to keep the project moving as smoothly as possible. The other service provided by our architect will be a “master plan.” After much research and questions about our church, its history and its hopes, the firm will provide a plan showing our re-imagined campus with its new “front door” facing east, in line with our vision of Connecting God and Grace to Self and Community.

I am reminded of the parallel master plan that God had for Israel and has for God’s people today.

‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to give you a hope and a future.’
— Jeremiah 29:11

As with architectural plans, God’s plan is realized only after faithful work by many for the common good. Lent is a good time to be in prayer for both of these plans – for our church and for ourselves.

Here’s to our collective hope and future.   Amen.
